“Aniron” by Jana Skarecky
Winner of
J.R.R. Tolkien Conference Art Competition

 

Jana Skarecky’s three paintings on themes from “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien were exhibited in the Imladris Gallery at “The Gathering of the Fellowship” J.R.R. Tolkien Conference in Toronto July 1-4, 2006.

Her painting “Aniron” received the first prize in the conference art competition in which all the artworks were inspired by the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. The scene is of Arwen and Aragorn in Rivendell. (See the Artworks Section for the other paintings from this series.)

Works of celebrated modernist writers and painters are included alongside the creative riffs on their artmaking by a younger generation of poets who have carved out spaces for women writers’ creative interactions. The collection includes  reflections on the creative process, poems, fiction and creative non-fiction.
